Lyceum students secured four prize-winning places in various weight categories at the kettlebell sport championship organized by the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs. The sports event was dedicated to the Defenders and Defendresses of Ukraine Day and the European Week of Sport.
The official opening ceremony featured the participation of DSUIA Vice-Rector, Police Colonel Ihor Kovalov, and Oleksii Popovych, prize-winner of national competitions, member of the Dnipropetrovsk region kettlebell sport team, and lieutenant of the police special operations unit (KORD). In their welcoming speeches, they emphasized the importance of promoting physical education and sports among students and highlighted how such competitions help cultivate willpower, endurance and team spirit.
The Dnipro Lyceum team was represented by seven athletes, one in each weight category. According to the rules, competitors performed kettlebell snatches for 10 minutes, with free hand changes allowed, but without touching the chest or other parts of the body.
After intense competition, the team from the Lyceum became silver medalists in the team ranking and won four individual prizes.
Gold medals were earned by Maksym Yermakov (up to 68 kg, 160 reps), Nazar Smilianets (up to 78 kg, 161 reps) and Maksym Rudev (95+ kg, 182 reps). Silver medal went to Volodymyr Moskalenko (up to 63 kg, 150 reps).
All winners and runners-up received commemorative certificates for their achievements.
