Students of the Dnipro Lyceum of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Named After O. Hostishchev Learned About the Work of the Court
As part of the nationwide campaign “16 Days Against Violence,” a mock court hearing was organized for the lyceum students.

The event was conducted by the Department of Administrative Law and Process of the Educational and Scientific Institute for Training Specialists for Preventive Units of the National Police of Ukraine, together with the Department for Training and Specialization of the Institute of Postgraduate Education and Distance Learning of DSUIA.
For several months, the students of the Dnipro Lyceum of Security Orientation and National-Patriotic Education of the Ministry of Internal Affairs named after O. Hostishchev studied the types of domestic violence, the causes of its occurrence and forms of manifestation, as well as the specifics of police work when responding to domestic violence and methods of its prevention.
As part of the “16 Days Against Violence” campaign, the lyceum students took part in a final practical activity — a mock court session with the participation of a judge of the Samarsky District Court of Dnipro, PhD in Law, Associate Professor Viacheslav HARKUSHA, and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Administrative Law and Process Mykola REPAN.

The subject of the review was a mock administrative case concerning an offense under Article 173-2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Ukraine (domestic violence), prepared by district police officers undergoing specialization training at the Department for Training and Specialization of the Institute of Postgraduate Education and Distance Learning.
Viacheslav HARKUSHA introduced the students to the judicial profession, explained the structure of the court and the roles of participants in the judicial process, and informed them about the variety of cases he had handled throughout his career. The students participated in the mock hearing as witnesses, offenders, and victims, following a pre-developed scenario.
The lyceum students gained new knowledge, familiarized themselves with the specifics of administrative cases related to domestic violence, and learned the difference between “violence” and “conflict.” Additionally, special attention was drawn to the fact that a child is considered a victim of domestic violence even when they are only a witness to it.

Such a format helps shape the students’ understanding of court operations and the profession of a judge.
