Students of the Dnipro Lyceum of the Ministry of Internal Affairs named after O. Hostishchev Learned About the Work of the 102 Service

Lyceum students met with line operators and learned about the specifics of their work.

As part of an educational visit, students of the Dnipro Lyceum of Security and National-Patriotic Education of the Ministry of Internal Affairs named after O. Hostishchev visited the dispatch center of the Main Department of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk region, where they were introduced to the work of the “102” emergency service.

Service employees explained that “102” is the 24-hour emergency number of the National Police of Ukraine, which ensures prompt response to offenses and emergencies. Operators work around the clock, 24/7, receiving citizens’ calls, assessing the level of threat, and directing police units to the scene.

During the conversation, specialists emphasized that the work of dispatchers requires not only a high level of concentration and responsibility, but also the ability to remain calm in stressful situations. They described the step-by-step process — from receiving a call to the arrival of a patrol or an investigative team — and explained how the “102” service interacts with other emergency services, such as fire departments, ambulances, and gas services.

Lyceum students also learned that the “102” system is barrier-free: the official website of the National Police includes special accessibility features for people with visual or hearing impairments.

During the visit, students actively asked questions and showed interest in the technical aspects of the operators’ work. They concluded that this profession requires endurance, psychological resilience, and quick reaction skills.
