On the occasion of National Flag Day of Ukraine, students of the Hostishchev Dnipro Lyceum for Security and National-Patriotic Education under the Ministry of Internal Affairs took part in a series of educational excursions, patriotic competitions and group activities dedicated to the history and meaning of one of Ukraine’s key state symbols.
The lyceum students visited Heroes of the Maidan Square in Dnipro, where in 2018 the tallest flagpole in Ukraine was erected – standing at 72 meters high. The flag flying there measures 18 by 12 meters and covers an area of 216 square meters.
After learning key facts about the history of the national flag, the students honored the memory of all those who gave their lives for a free and independent Ukraine with a moment of silence.
The group then visited the Museum of the Modern Russo-Ukrainian War, where they explored the outdoor exhibition "Through the Roads of Donbas." The lyceum’s director, Kyrylo Nedria – a defender of Donetsk Airport – guided the students through the exhibit, highlighting significant artifacts and events from the war in Eastern Ukraine.
Following the historical tour, the students participated in a drawing competition titled "Under the Blue and Yellow Flag – Toward Victory!" The task was not only to illustrate the national flag but also to depict associative symbols that, in the students’ view, best represent the Ukrainian nation and identity.
Later, the students competed in the game "Erudite," where they had to correctly form words from given syllables within a limited time frame.
The day concluded with a team-based psycho-emotional training session. This activity focused on personal reflection, shared experiences and the practical application of knowledge through role-playing exercises. According to the organizers, such events foster communication skills, emotional resilience, and help build a stronger sense of unity and cooperation among participants.
