The training was conducted by an instructor from the Recruitment Center of the 12th Special Purpose Brigade “Azov” of the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine, call sign “KHIMIK”. Within the course, the lyceum students are studying the MARCH algorithm – an international pre-medical aid protocol used to save the lives of the wounded in critical conditions.

   This time, the main focus was placed on the final stage of the protocol – Hypothermia/Head injury. During the session, students learned the algorithm of actions to prevent hypothermia, became familiar with the rules of using a thermal blanket, and studied methods of monitoring the condition of a person with head injuries until medical personnel arrive. Special attention was given to continuous monitoring of consciousness, breathing, and body temperature of the casualty.

   The instructor emphasized that the risk of hypothermia exists even at above-zero temperatures, as heat loss after injury significantly worsens the victim’s condition and reduces the chances of survival.

   The acquired knowledge helps students not only understand the basics of tactical medicine but also develop rapid response skills and teamwork abilities.
