Chess Championship at Dnipro Lyceum named after O. Hostishchev of the MIA
The tournament became a qualifying stage before the championship among pupils of security-oriented and national-patriotic education lyceums of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The event was opened by the Director of the Dnipro Lyceum of Security Orientation and National-Patriotic Education named after O. Hostishchev of the MIA Kyrylo Nedria. He emphasized the importance of chess as a sport that develops abstract thinking and helps to approach task solving strategically. Wishing the participants success, he highlighted the significance of intellectual development in future professional activity.
Eleven lyceum pupils took part in the competitions. The tournament was held in a round-robin system, where each participant played against every opponent.
According to the tournament results, the winners were:
• Davyd Yaroshevych – first place;
• Dmytro Shevel – second place;
• Oleksandr Spyrydonov – third place.
The winners received diplomas and awards.
