The event was held on the occasion of the Day of Resistance to the Occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol.

Pupils of the Dnipro Lyceum of Security Orientation and National-Patriotic Education named after O. Hostishchev of the MIA took part in the meeting.

The speaker was the Chief Specialist of the Second Interregional Territorial Department of the Department for Ensuring the Implementation of National Memory Policy in Regions and Subordinate Institutions of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory Iryna Reva.

Participants of the meeting learned about the historical events that preceded the occupation and the beginning of the Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine. Iryna Reva spoke about the history of the peninsula, the peoples who inhabited it, as well as the role Crimea played in different periods of Ukrainian statehood.

Such events contribute to a deep awareness of historical truth, the formation of national consciousness and patriotism, the cultivation of respect for those who carry out nonviolent resistance to the occupation, as well as understanding the psychology of resistance and the importance of preserving identity even under occupation conditions.
February 26 is a day intended to remind of the courage and honor the steadfastness of thousands of residents of the Crimean peninsula, who on this day in 2014 came out in Simferopol to a rally in support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
