"The Science of Mistakes or the Science About Mistakes": A Lecture for Security-Oriented Lyceum Students of the Ministry of Internal Affairs
Kyrylo NEDRYA, Director of the Dnipro Lyceum for Security and National-Patriotic Education of the Ministry of Internal Affairs named after O. Hostishchev, delivered an online lecture upon the invitation of the Minor Academy of Sciences. The event gathered over 300 participants, including lyceum students.
The lecture focused on interdisciplinary approaches to history, the subjectivity of interpreting historical facts, the creation of myths, and the distortion of historical events. Kyrylo NEDRYA emphasized the relevance of these topics in today's world, where historical manipulation is often used as a tool in hybrid warfare. Special attention was given to the issue of historical monopolization, with examples of Russia's attempts to "appropriate" Kyiv in its historical narratives.
Participants were provided with factual insights into the distortion of historical events and learned how historical psychology explains the human mind's ability to adapt to skewed perceptions of historical contexts.
The lecture sparked lively interest among attendees. Plans are underway to continue similar events and establish a discussion club based at security and national-patriotic lyceums. This initiative aims to provide students with a platform for in-depth discussions on historical topics.
The elections for student government positions have taken place at the O. Hostishchev Police Lyceum in Dnipro. Lyceum students voted to elect a Hetman and direction-specific leaders, marking a significant event aimed at fostering leadership skills, civic responsibility, and accountability among the students.
