The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine praised the resilience and motivation of the young athletes.
The meeting was attended by students of the Dnipro Lyceum named after Oleksandr Hostishchev, Head of the Department of Special Physical Training of DSUIA, Police Major Viktor BOHUSLAVSKYI, and university cadets.
Special attention was given to the story of Andrii SHEVCHENKO – multiple champion of Ukraine, Europe, and the world in judo and sambo, and now an instructor at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs. After sustaining a severe injury during battles near Vuhledar, he returned to coaching and continues competing in adaptive sports, setting an example of courage and resilience.
As part of the event, athletes held an open training session in universal combat, hand-to-hand combat, mixed martial arts, sambo, karate, kickboxing, kettlebell lifting, taekwondo, and Muay Thai. Lyceum students had the opportunity to watch demonstration performances, communicate with athletes, and gain extra motivation for their own training.
The event was also joined by 2024 Olympic Champion Oleksandr KHYZHNIAK, athlete-instructors, and students from various MIA educational institutions. They shared their experiences and emphasized the importance of sports as a component of a healthy and responsible lifestyle.
The meeting demonstrated that sports unite young people, foster patriotism, and prepare future professionals for service in law enforcement.
