During the event, those present recalled the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine.

The meeting was held on the initiative of the administration of the Dnipro Lyceum of Security Orientation and National-Patriotic Education named after Oleksandr Hostishchev of the MIA.
The Evening of Memory is a moment when personal history merges with the national tragedy. For many, the war began not only on February 24, 2022, and it became an event that divided life into “before” and “after”.

At the beginning of the event, the director of the lyceum Kyrylo NEDRIA shared his memories. These are memories of a very difficult path of resilience, full of losses.

With a candle of memory in hand, each participant of the meeting recalled personal events of that moment. Someone was awakened by a phone call from loved ones, someone else by the sound of explosions outside the window, and someone by a scream. Those present recalled the first feelings — horror and uncertainty, after which life was divided into “before” and “after”.

These are memories of resilience, of losing a home or loved ones, of helping defenders. This time became a moment when history was being made not in textbooks, but outside the window, and every day turned into a struggle.
Recalling those events, the lyceum pupils noted that it is very difficult, but also important to talk about this pain, transforming it into meaning. Participants noted that memory of past and present wars is the foundation for national unity and the struggle for independence and the future of Ukraine.
