Student of Dnipro Lyceum named after O. Hostishchev of the MIA Ivan DYOMIN became the silver medalist of the All-Ukrainian STEM Olympiad

Lyceum student Ivan DYOMIN presented a solution for the protection of energy infrastructure. The work was highly appreciated by the jury.

The Olympiad of the natural and mathematical cycle “STEM Project” for students of grades 9–11 was held in an online format. A student of the Dnipro Lyceum of Security Orientation and National-Patriotic Education named after Oleksandr Hostishchev of the MIA Ivan DYOMIN presented his work in the nomination “Creative Solutions for Victory” on the topic “Protection of electrical substations from the impact of an explosive wave”. In the project, Ivan DYOMIN studied the impact of an explosive wave on critical infrastructure facilities and developed an innovative model of a “hybrid fence wall”, which reduces the force of impact, partially absorbs the energy of the wave and prevents the destruction of structures.

The results of the experiments confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed solution: instead of complete destruction, the structures suffer only minor damage.

Such achievements of lyceum students testify to the high level of technical training of young people, the development of engineering thinking and their readiness to work today on practical solutions to increase the safety and protection of critical infrastructure of Ukraine.
