Students of the Dnipro Lyceum of the Ministry of Internal Affairs participated in the Athletics Championship held at the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs.
The event opened with the performance of the National Anthem of Ukraine, followed by a moment of silence. Bowing their heads, the attendees honored the memory of the soldiers and civilians who died as a result of Russian armed aggression.
The participants were welcomed by DSUIA Vice-Rector, Police Lieutenant Colonel Ihor Kovalov, and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Special Physical Training, Police Major Serhii Petrenko. They wished the athletes success and announced the basic rules of the competition.
The championship included teams from the Dnipro Lyceum of Security and National-Patriotic Education of the Ministry of Internal Affairs named after O. Hostishchev, as well as cadets of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Criminal Police Units of the National Police of Ukraine, the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pre-Trial Investigation Bodies of the National Police of Ukraine, and the Educational and Scientific Institute for Training Specialists for Preventive Activities of the National Police of Ukraine.
Each team was represented by six participants—five boys and one girl. On the DSUIA stadium track, athletes competed in three running distances: 1000 m, 3000 m, and 5000 m. A qualified jury evaluated the performances.
The championship aimed to enhance the skill level and physical endurance of the university’s athletes, as well as to develop applied skills and nurture moral and psychological qualities among future police officers. Participants were awarded commemorative certificates and medals.
