The event was organized by the Department of Scientific Research Organization of Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA).
The training brought together DSUIA students and cadets, as well as students of the Dnipro Security and National-Patriotic Education Lyceum named after O. Hostishchev, affiliated with DSUIA.
Senior Research Fellow of the Department of Scientific Research Organization, Olena Shkurko, provided attendees with an overview of the origins of rhetoric and emphasized that this discipline remains highly relevant today, as it is a vital skill for effective communication and interaction.
The training focused particularly on the preparation for public speaking. Participants explored the stages of speech preparation, its various types and communicative features, and paid special attention to techniques for overcoming public speaking anxiety. Attendees also watched a video featuring advice from a public speaking expert on how to prepare for a performance and behave during a speech, including correct use of gestures. Additionally, students and lyceum attendees were invited to perform practical exercises aimed at improving the quality of their speeches.
At the end of the meeting, Olena Lukianenko delivered a presentation based on her research, which won a prize in a Ministry of Internal Affairs competition and is being prepared for presentation at a final scientific conference. After her speech, a discussion was held on how well she followed the rules of public speaking and how effectively she visualized her material.
The knowledge and practical skills acquired during the training will help lyceum students and young researchers in preparing reports, speaking at conferences, and defending their research, coursework, and thesis projects in the future.
Over the course of three days, a volleyball championship was held among lyceums focused on security and national-patriotic education, as well as the Military Lyceum of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
