Students of the Dnipro Lyceum Named After O. Hostishchev Took Part in an Open Boxing Training Session
During the session, lyceum students learned several key techniques and practiced striking combinations in pairs. The training was conducted by Dmytro Petrushyn, Associate Professor of the Department of Special Physical Training at Dniprovskyi State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA), and a Master of Sports of Ukraine in boxing.
The session began with a warm-up and the practice of basic technical elements, particularly footwork. Participants then moved on to defensive techniques, gradually increasing the complexity of the tasks: first adding a counterpunch to the torso, then combining strikes to the torso and head with the same hand.
The final stage involved practicing a full combination: footwork-based defense, a counterpunch to the torso, a punch to the head with the same hand, followed by a hook to the head with the opposite hand. This sequence was repeated over six rounds according to a set pattern.
Afterward, the lyceum students completed two more rounds of semi-free sparring using both hands. The training concluded with exercises aimed at strengthening the torso and arm muscles.
According to the organizers, such sessions are designed to develop physical endurance, coordination, and combat skills — essential components of the students’ professional preparation.
