At the Dnipro Lyceum Named After O. Hostishchev, Students Watched the Sports Drama "Pulse"
To mark the Day of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine, students of the Dnipro Lyceum named after O. Hostishchev watched the inspiring Ukrainian film "Pulse". The movie tells the life story of track and field athlete Oksana Boturchuk.
The plot is based on true events from the life of the athlete, who partially lost her vision in a severe car accident. Despite the challenges, she made a triumphant return to professional sports and earned global recognition. Today, Oksana Boturchuk is an Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine in athletics, the 2008 Paralympic champion, and a four-time silver and bronze medalist of the Summer Paralympic Games in 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2024. She is also an ambassador for the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine’s branch in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
The athlete was personally involved in the making of the film: she consulted with screenwriters Yaroslav Voytsekhiv and Maksym Chernysh, worked closely with the actors and film crew to authentically portray the realities of professional athletic training and the nuanced life of a person with visual impairment.
According to the lyceum students, the film captivates with its attention to detail, sincerity, emotional depth and the incredible strength of the main character’s spirit. They believe that Oksana’s journey is a vivid example of resilience, self-belief and genuine love for sports.
