For Lyceum Students About the SES: An Introductory Meeting Between Dnipro Lyceum Students of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Rescuers
Students of the Dnipro Lyceum of Security Orientation and National-Patriotic Education of the Ministry of Internal Affairs named after O. Hostishchev were introduced to the work of rescuers.
The students learned about the specifics of the emergency rescue unit of special purpose within the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) in Dnipropetrovsk region. Specialists of this unit focus on preventing and eliminating the consequences of accidents involving hazardous chemical, biological, and radioactive substances. The rescuers explained that their deployment depends on the nature of the emergency. These units carry out specialized emergency rescue operations in environments unsuitable for breathing, underground facilities, areas contaminated with chemicals or radiation, as well as extinguishing oil and gas blowouts, conducting search and rescue operations during sudden structural collapses, and more.
The lyceum students were also briefed on the procedures for decontamination from radioactive and toxic substances, as well as bacterial agents. They learned about degassing, deactivation, and disinfection processes. Additionally, the rescuers shared real-life experiences, including stories of complex operations they had undertaken.
SES specialists emphasized the importance of continuous improvement of professional skills, modern technical equipment, and coordinated interaction with other units.
The students had the opportunity to experience the role of special-purpose emergency rescue unit members and concluded that work related to preventing and mitigating the consequences of accidents involving hazardous substances is risky, yet remains exceptionally important and highly responsible.
The guests shared their combat experience, spoke about the defense of Mariupol, and discussed their service in the 12th Special Purpose Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, "Azov."
The event for students of the Dnipro Lyceum of Security and National-Patriotic Education of the Ministry of Internal Affairs named after O. Hostishchev was organized with the support of the Department of Special Physical Training of DSUIA.
