Cynologists, tactical medicine and evacuation: introductory meeting for pupils of Dnipro Lyceum of the Ministry of Internal Affairs named after O. Hostishchev
During the visit guardsmen shared with lyceum students features of service, presented samples of equipment and conducted a practical lesson on tactical medicine.
Invited guests were representatives of military unit 3033 of the NGU, namely: Hero of Ukraine, commander, senior lieutenant Dmytro SHEMETA; shooter-medic, soldier Illia BOIKO; senior cynologist of the cynological platoon, sergeant Ihor SATS; instructor of tactical medicine, senior sergeant Kateryna ONYSHCHUK; acting paramedic, sergeant Viktoriia POLIUGANYCH.
The meeting began with an introductory lecture, during which Dmytro SHEMETA and Illia BOIKO told students about the specifics of service in the National Guard, modern weapons and means of individual protection that help military on the frontline. Guardsmen emphasized that the modern army requires not only physical endurance but also a high level of technical training, as well as the ability to work with the latest technologies.
Senior cynologist Ihor SATS acquainted lyceum students with tasks of the cynological service. He emphasized that service dogs are involved in the search for explosives, weapons and wounded, inspection of cargo, vehicles and premises. Together with cynologists dogs participate in patrolling, conducting stabilization measures, including at checkpoints.
For practical demonstration to the lyceum visited a German shepherd Santa, who under the guidance of Ihor Sats performed a search for items among students who acted as extras.
Practical lesson on tactical medicine was conducted by Kateryna ONYSHCHUK and Viktoriia POLIUGANYCH. They acquainted students with algorithms of providing first aid, demonstrated techniques of stopping bleeding, applying a tourniquet and bandages, performing tamponade and using painkillers for shock treatment. Special attention was paid to the evacuation of the wounded from the combat zone, as well as interaction with other units within the framework of conducting such evacuation. Lyceum students actively joined the practice and mastered skills that can save lives.
Such meetings contribute to the formation in youth of patriotism, respect for defenders of Ukraine and understanding of the importance of professional training.
